IAN MOWFORTH
was born in 1966 in Harworth, Nottinghamshire. He went to Doncaster Grammar School where he discovered his passion for art. A degree in Painting at Wimbledon School of Art followed in the 80s, then his MA at Brighton university in 1994. Ian has taught children and adults in some capacity since the 90s.

“My work falls into different categories. I am a painter of figurative subjects. I am interested in colour and mark making. If I make an image of a dog in paint or print, I try to capture the essence of the animal. The life is captured in their eyes.

“I am currently painting terriers of all descriptions in oils on panel and aluminium. I am also painting flowers on a large scale too. I’m presently also working on a series of Lino cuts of dogs, cats and lizards. I exhibited a print in the Royal Academy this summer and had the honour of having my image turned into a card for the shop.”

Ian’s work hangs in many private collections in the U.K., USA, Europe and Australia.
